Provisional program for Babels volunteers before and during the ESF
(Date: 29 April 2006)
Before the ESF
Arrival in Athens
If you arrive before May 2nd, you must proceed directly to your accommodation and pay for your bus ticket to the center of Athens (3.20 euros). Please keep the validated ticket so that you can be reimbursed.
If you arrive on May 2 or 3 between 10:00 am and 11:00 pm, Babels volunteers at the airport will give you a map of Athens, your travel card – which is valid for one week and will be used for routes except from and to the airport – and 2 transportation tickets of 3,20 euros which you will be able to use to get from the airport to the center of Athens or the ESF venue and vice versa. Babels volunteers will be waiting for you at the Bus Starting Point outside the Eleftherios Venizelos airport. Your names and your arrival times will appear in a list and you will receive your maps, travel card and tickets after you sign beside your name. Do not lose your ticket or card: you won’t get another one!
Those interpreters who arrive in Athens on May 2nd or May 3rd after midnight or May 4th, please buy the bus ticket of 3,20 euros, and proceed to the center of Athens by bus (there is bus service every 30 minutes from the Eleftherios Venizelos airport and the center of Athens or to Peiraias during the night hours). Please keep your validated ticket so that you can be reimbursed.
Please remember that you have to VALIDATE both the ticket from/to the airport and the travel card so as to be valid.
Please note that we will not reimburse the bus ticket for those who arrive in Athens in May 2nd or 3rd between 10:00 to 23:00 because we will purchase their ticket for them.
Please keep in mind that you will not be reimbursed if you use the suburban railway.
