FAME 2012 : Call for volunteers
(Date: 22 December 2011)
The aim of the Alternative World Water Forum – in French, the Forum Alternatif Mondial de l’Eau (FAME) – is to create a concrete alternative to the sixth World Water Forum (WWF) which is organised by the World Water Council. This Council is a mouthpiece for transnational companies and the World Bank and they falsely claim to head the global governance of water.
Babels has offered to organise simultaneous interpretation for the debates during the workshops and assemblies of the FAME. The FAME organisers will in turn take care of transport and accommodation for the voluntary interpreters accepted by the Babels coordination team for this forum.
Call for voluntary interpreters
The FAME will take place in Marseille (FRANCE) from the 10th - 18th March 2012, with events organised in different locations, where there will be conferences, workshops, round tables etc.
We need around 70 FR/EN/ES interpreters who are available from Tuesday 13th to Sunday 18th March 2012. We will give priortity to volunteers who are based near the site of the forum or who can reach Marseille with minimal transport costs.
The FAME will take place in Marseille from 10th to 18th March 2012.
The currently planned activities are:
The issues covered will be social, technical (water management, distribution and purification), economic (should water be a product?), legal (state management, outsourcing, public-private partnership)
For more information on the forum: http://www.fame2012.org/
Important : Babels will be only be working with the FAME to organise the workshops and assemblies from 14th to 17th of March. For this reason the FAME cannot cover transport and accommodation of volunteers outside the dates planned for workshops and assemblies. Specific arrangements will be proposed for interpreters coming from a greater distance (for example: arriving the day before, leaving the day after etc.).
How can I volunteer?
