(Date: 25 May 2006)
The workshop Another World is Necessary, organized by the Center for Global Justice and other organizations (http://www.globaljusticecenter.org/) will be held on 19-26 July 2006 in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The purpose of the workshop is to discuss alternatives to corporate globalization that are just, sustainable, and respect popular sovereignty. Key issues: grasping the crisis (capitalism, neo-liberalism, conflicting models, racism); goals and alternatives (resistance, social justice, autonomy, participatory democracy); strategies and tools (occupy, resist, produce); women issues (reproductive rights, migration of women, indigenous women). Interpreters Profile: We are ONLY searching for EN<>ES interpreters living in Mexico or planning on being in Mexico on the relevant dates (19-26 July 2006), whose mother tongue is either English or Spanish and who have at least some experience with simultaneous and/or consecutive interpreting. The organizers will pay ground transportation within Mexico and provide solidarity accommodation and meals to selected interpreters. If your profile matches the workshop needs and you would like to participate, please go to your personal page and tick the “Another World is Necessary” box. This is the only way we will be able to consider you in the selection process and keep you informed.
